A Grandmother From Namibia

Martha lost her vision about a year ago. As a result, she had to rely on her grandson Titus to care for her, which meant that he couldn’t go to school or play with his friends. Her blindness had not only taken away her freedom – it also threatened her grandson’s future. Thankfully, she learned that SEE and Dr. Helena Ndume was holding a sight-restoring clinic near her home. Experience Martha’s heartwarming journey as her sight, and her family’s independence, is restored.

Namibia is a country in southwestern Africa, bordering Zambia and Angola to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south and east. About half the population depends on agriculture to survive, making blindness a very real problem. SEE has partnered with Dr. Ndume in Namibia for over 20 years, and together, we have brought the gift of sight to tens of thousands of men, women, and children in the country.
